Free Workshop: San Gabriel Valley Stimulus Projects

SGVEWP, in partnership with the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments, hosted a workshop on energy efficiency stimulus funding for more than 50 city officials where they were able to:

  • Learn the latest information on stimulus projects in the San Gabriel Valley;

  • Have an opportunity to discuss and troubleshoot challenges relative to project implementation and reporting with other cities and stakeholder agencies.

Energy Efficiency Awards Luncheon

SGVEWP recognized the San Gabriel Valley's oustanding commitment to energy efficiency by hosting its First Annual Energy Efficiency Awards.  This event  honored the cities of Alhambra, Claremont, El Monte, and San Marino for their work on various energy efficiency projects over the past year.  We also looked forward to the 2010-2012 program cycle and our goal of acheving 5 million kWh in energy savings!

LED Holiday Light Exchange

SGVEWP is offering to SCE residential customers located in the San Gabriel Valley the opportunity to exchange their incandescent holiday light strings for LED holiday light strings for free. 

LEDs are exceptionally energy efficient and use up to 90% less energy than a comparable incandescent bulb. The amount of electricity consumed by just one 7-watt incandescent bulb could power 140 LEDs—enough to light more than four 10-foot LED strings. 

Qualifying customers may exchange up to two strings each. SGVEWP representatives will offer the LED holiday light exchange at five upcoming city-sponsored holiday events.  These events are scheduled as follows:

State of Utilities Breakfast

San Gabriel Valley community leaders joined together at this newsworthy forum to hear industry utility executives address regional issues impacting electric, gas, and water.  Remarks were also provided by San Gabriel Valley Legislative Caucus Chair, Assemblymember Ed Hernandez, O.D.and Vice-Chair, State Senator Bob Huff.

Free Workshop: Title 24's New Requirements

The California Energy Commission adopted new Title 24 standards in 2008 that will go into effect on January 1, 2010.  This workshop provided an overview of Title 24 code and focused on the new requirements for 2010.  Featuring Mark Madison from Energy Codes Works (http://www.energycode.com/), a Title 24 Certified Energy Analyst, Certified Energy Plans Examiner, and HERS Rater.

AB 811 allows for local governments to assist property owners in financing energy efficiency and renewable energy projects on private developments.  AB 811 programs are springing up around the State to help reduce residential energy use and meet climate change goals.

The Partnership hosted this workshop to learn more about various the County of Los Angeles' plans for an AB 811 program, as well as learn more about the latest information on other programs in the state.

The American Reinvestment & Recovery Act appropriated $3.2 billion dollars to be distributed under the Federal Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant program.  These are dollars that the cities in the San Gabriel Valley can apply for to implement a wide range of projects that will increase energy efficiency and show bottom line savings in your budget.
