Retrofitting & Retro-Commissioning Incentives |

SCE offers cash rebates and incentives for energy-efficient the installation of energy efficient equipment. Cash incentives and design assistance are available for new buildings and system processes. Cities can receive a higher rebate for retro-fitting projects such as lighting, HVAC, and water pumping upgrades in their municipal facilities through this program. SGVEWP will assist city staff in identifying and developing potential projects that range from simple, low-cost strategies to comprehensive upgrades and retro-commissioning.
EXAMPLES

   
In 2008, the City of Monrovia became involved with the Partnership and completed a number of direct installation energy efficienty upgrades. They completed the following projects that have resulted in energy savings: - Conversion from T12 to T8 retrofits in city facilities, reducing lighting energy consumption by 20% and last 20% longer than the older lights
- Conversion of high pressure sodium lights at Mary Wilcox Youth Center Gymnasium to T5 retrofit lights
- Installation of programmable thermostats creating an energy management system at Corporate Yard, Police Department and Fire Station
- Installation of various Vending Misers (motion sensor plugged into vending machine)
- Light Replacements on Old Town Street
- Seventy-five percent (75%) of City traffic signals have been retrofitted to LED
- Installation of Intellicon HVAC Cycle Manager in several City Facilities
- Window tinting at city facilities
The City has realized 627,930 kWh savings or $36,082 just by making these simple changes. They also received $25,167 in rebates from the Partnership! 

In 2006-2007, the City of Alhambra completed a number of projects through the Partnership: Comprehensive lighting retrofits including motion sensors Upgrade, redesign, and/or replacement of various HVAC systems Duct cleaning and air balancing Comprehensive temperature control upgrades Boiler replacements Installation of energy management systems
These projects saved Alhambra approximately 861,063 kWh, or 20% of their utility charges in the retrofitted facilities, as well as $176,705 in utility and operational costs in the first year. The Partnership also provided $80,000 in rebates!
